General Notes: Husband - Washington Vines
In the 1850 census, Washington is listed as born in AL. In the 1960 census, he is listed as born in MS. All other references I have seen list him born in SC. I have opted to use the SC birth location because of its frequency of use and it does seem the most logical. Washington's birth year is listed as 1840 on his headstone, but all other sources list 1841 for his birth year. Charlie Vines - site administrator
General Notes: Child - Infant Son Vines
?The Infant Son Vines is listed as the child of W and T A Vines. I believe this is Washington (Doc Washington) and Tirza A Vines. I have not seen any other Vines' in Union County at this time with a given name starting with 'W'and 'T A'. Further research is needed to confirm this conclusion. Charlie Vines
General Notes: Child - Jo Eler Vines
The following notes are based on observations made while researching the family of Washington and Tirza Vines.
I listed Jo Eler's birth between 1870-1874 because:
1. She is not listed on the 1870 census
2. The Goodspeed's biography of Washington Vines list Jo Eler as a child of Washington and Tirza's. Mr. Goodspeed also listed her death as 1874.
I listed Jo Eler's death in Texas because her sister, Joanna, was born in Texas (based on census data) in 1874. Therefore, Jo Eler was have died around the same time as Joanna was born.
